5 Things I'd love to tell my younger self about Tarot.

I decided to write her a little letter. She will never read it of course, but you are here reading and it may help another budding Tarot lover one day.

"Dear Sandra,

You are probably wondering who I am as you read this. That doesn't really matter. What matters is I have some things I want to tell you about that Tarot stuff you've become interested in recently, things I wish someone had told me back when I was, well, you! You may choose to take this advice or discard it as the ramblings of an old crazy lady and go on about your day. Either way, here goes..

There's so much more to it than fortune-telling! Picture a hallway or large room with 78 doors. Each of those doors leads to its own unique world. This is, in essence, a Tarot deck. The cards each have their own rabbit hole of symbolism, myth and stories to explore..literally worlds! You can use these extraordinary tools for fortune-telling of course, but there are so many more uses from self development to helping in decision-making to spell work. They are a trusty friend who can always help to guide you.

Have fun with it. Tarot reading doesn't have to be just for the big decisions and dilemmas in life. We would never get much practice if that were the case. It also doesn't have to be serious and sombre all the time. The cards have a sense of humour and so should you. Practice readings on book and TV characters, current events, celebrities, have some fun with it. You always did enjoy writing stories.

You can read for yourself! There is a superstitious old wives tale that you should not read the cards for yourself. This is absolute bollocks. You not only can read for yourself, but you should. Relating the cards to your own life experiences will help you to understand them much easier than only ever reading for others. You will especially enjoy exploring your own psychology with the cards.

Get into the habit of keeping a Tarot journal early on. I can't emphasise this enough. One of my biggest Tarot related regrets is not jotting down all my thoughts, feelings and little insights on the cards these past years. Get into the habit now, record everything. It will serve you better than any book on the cards you can buy.

Trust your intuition. You have an awful lot of it. You just need to be confident and trust in it and yourself. You are 'good enough' Sandra despite what you try to tell yourself. Let your guides lead the way and trust the journey.

There's a lot more I would like to tell you Sandra, but I will leave it there for now. Please just keep being you and own that intuitive empathy you can rock when you allow yourself to believe it. Take care and I'll see you very soon."

What would you tell your younger self if you had the chance? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Blessings,

Sandra
