Well that got your attention!
There appears to be a trend in the Tarot community lately to make it appear easy to make lots of money from tarot related business. This is of course, complete and utter bullshit.
Every where you look on social media you will see the latest self styled 'Biz Mentor' wittering on about how you to can have a high paying Tarot business in X amount of easy steps. You'll need to take their class to find out how of course. The reality of this is, no one is making any 'easy' money but them!
That's not to say all business mentors are this way, there are I'm sure some good ones who genuinely care about helping you get your business off on the right foot. They will not be seen spouting this sort of rubbish though!
Just imagine if you could pick up a deck of cards, spend a bit of time learning them then instantly have your dream business with people flocking to you from miles around.. wouldn't we all be doing it?
The truth is there no easy money to be had in Tarot, at least not while having any credibility or integrity to your work. There is for most of us, not a great deal of money to be had at all. There are no short cuts, no secrets to having a huge business right off the bat. Anyone who says otherwise is talking out of their, allegedly highly spiritual, backside!
Like any business, professional Tarot takes work. We put time, money and effort into learning to read and then keeping our skills evolving and updated. Once you have a site people are not just going to buy your readings or other services without you establishing a reputation and presence first, why should they? If you go on to teach or mentor, people will want to know and trust you first and rightly so!
This is all a labour of love. The majority of us would be lying if we said we had no interest in earning from it, but the love of Tarot and helping people, making a difference in their lives, tends to be a big motivation too.
I think the thing that upsets me the most about these posts touting how to make easy money with it, is that it cheapens that.
Its actually quite insulting to see it implied that something you love and put your heart into is being treated as no more than parlour tricks for fast money. It's a slap in the face for those who are working to bring Tarot into more acceptance as a credible form of guidance and healing.
I'm probably going to get some backlash for this post, but I'm too annoyed about it to care. If I can help one budding Tarot pro avoid this kind of crap then it is worth it!
